Wide-eyed and not entirely sure of herself, Niira followed her father into the trees of the forest she had visited many times so far. This place was a favorite of Araeor, who was half man half elf and a lover of all things related to nature, as was the elf tenancy. A teenager, but still childish in nature, Niira skipped after the tall half elf that she often traveled with. Niira didn't know what she was supposed to do when they got to Mirkwood. Her father wanted to see someone, but Niira hadn't bothered asking who. It didn't matter, the place was beautiful, though it was sometimes one she didn't want to go to, just because she only sort of knew one person, and that person had been the one she'd systematically run from every time her and her father visited this part of Middle-Earth. It wasn't that she didn't like Legolas, it was just that, well, anyone she met she was sort of shy around. This time was going to be different, though. If they ran into each other, Niira kept telling herself that she wouldn't leave. Her father had even lectured a bit about playing nice with the blonde boy if they were out wandering about. Niira kept insisting that she hadn't been mean at all, but that knowing look from the male parental unit couldn't be ignored.
As they made their way into the shelter of the tall trees, Niira began her own little tradition of hearing them communicate. She wasn't well versed yet. Tree Whispering took a long time to master, but she was getting better, at least, that's what the elves in Rivendell told her. It was a necessary trait for Niira to have, as though she was one fourth elf, it was clear that she had not inherited the ability to wield a sword or shoot an arrow, though she loved to try the latter. She smiled up at the leafy tops of the trees, noticing details about the branches and the textures of the bark.
Suddenly, Araeor came to a halt. Niira looked around, but her eyes must not have been as powerful as her fathers. After a brief moment of feeling like she hadn't taken a breath for a very long time, her father greeted a blonde elf dressed in fancy cloth. Niira resumed her looking around until her father told her she was free to wander around since now people knew they were there. She was hesitant to leave her father's side, but having visited here several times already, she was fairly certain that she would be safe as long as she didn't wander outside of the woods. A few minutes of skipping around and she came by a small stream and froze, eyes glued to a place in the distance. There was someone out there. She wasn't enough elf to see who it was, but there were definitely others around.
