Lothloriens trees were lightly dense and tall. Haldir loved being amongst them. Crawling through the branches and weaving amongst the leaves. The height always seemed to make him feel free. Free from duty, free from stress, free from the ground. It was the closest to flying he could possibly muster, unless he jumped off a cliff, which he would not do unless he had to. But the breezes the weaved through always felt crisp and either warm or cold depending on season. It always made him stop briefly and close his eyes letting it fill his senses.
Yet he would always be back on the move again. Because of being an elf his movement was stealthy. Each branch only shook enough to make it sound like a wind rustling through it. Some times not even that. If at all possible he would be fully quiet. Most of the time he kept his bow on his back, but he could pull it out quietly and quickly if he truly needed it. Yet at the moment it wasn't necessary. He could tell his brothers were near by, but he could not see them.
They were about as hidden as he was. However, he could hear any signal they'd give to him even if those that were encroaching couldn't. As he walked along his sharp eyes scanned the nearby ground. He watched light flickering through green leaves that left sprinkles of shadows and light on the dirt flooring. Though the branches were bendy they seemed to support his weight as he nimbly balanced on them. He looked further out into the trees having thought he heard something, but noticed it had only been a deer walking along, snacking on the leaves lowest down. Its pelt was beautiful, but he was not about to hunt it. He could tell it was a doe and that somewhere near by it had a fawn. The serenity of nature just had to make Haldir smile.
Finally it scampered off into the wilderness far beyond his senses reaches. It's graceful legs glided it across the thicket of open grasses and vanish into the tree undergrowth. He put his chin on the upper arch of his bow and stood there for a few long moments gazing out into the wild. As proper, logical, and formal driven as Haldir was, his heart was somewhat pulled to the wilds adventures. However, he did not draw far into such thoughts. His mind was drawn away again from its thoughts by another sound from the underbrush. He casually knocked his bow, even if he was alter mentally now. He was ready for any intruder no matter who they were.
He dropped silently out of the trees as he got closer. He could tell that who ever they were, they were not scared of being in elf land. This did not surprise him too much, not all people were. Some were more used to it. He just hoped that whoever approached was friend over foe. Otherwise things were going to get a bit strained between them. His bow was ready to shoot if need be. He just hoped he wouldn't have to use it, he wasn't one up much for hurting people unless he had to.
