Hobbits: He seems to be around these people an awful lot he has taken a shine to both Bilbo and Frodo
Middle Earth: Its a nice place and it deserves saving.
Magic: Well it is what he uses so why should he not like it, its very useful for loads of things.
Men: They may be easily corrupted but they are clever and some are sturdy people, they deserve their chance.
Elves: Fair folk old and proud people it's too bad they are leaving Middle Earth.
Fireworks: make for some Great Displays, good for a party or two.
Adventure: Nothing wrong with an adventure to sort out the troubles of middle Earth, well going on the adventure and helping people out along the way.
dislikes,
Sauron: Total evil would rather enslave everyone instead of make peace with them.
Orcs: Just as bad as the person they serve turned to evil.
Evil: In the name really not ncie, dark and just genrally untrustworthy.
Nazgûl: Once men but now servants of the Dark Lord thye are to be feared and not to be trifled with.
Fools: people like this are irritating and get in the way have you met that Took yet ?
The One Ring: A tool of the Dark lord just as evil as he is and very good at corrupting good hearts.

fears, The ring falling into the Hands of the Dark lord and Sauron taking over Middle Earth.
dreams, To keep Middle Earth Safe.
personality, Quick to anger Gandalf can be, this is one thing that many known about him and do try to be careful around him. Thanks to this he is not one to suffer fools lightly just ask Pipin. He is a very wise person often departing this wisdom onto others so they can do what must be done, this also allows him to be patient, he is not the type to try hurry another unless there is a great evil nearby. He cares an awful lot for the good creatures of middle Earth and will do all he can to help them, with this he has a strong sense of pity that can be directed towards the weaker peoples of middle Earth.
Gandalf keeps many secrets and veils both power and most of his wisdom from others, sometimes disguising himself as a fool or some who does only party tricks. Gandalf is very different in both ways he can be affectionate one moment and very blunt another moment. His bluntness often comes when there is little time.
He is often amused by the nature of Hobbits and he feels a deep attachment to these creatures, one reason would be that they are unlike men, Elves and Dwarfs are untouched by most of the evils of the world. There simple life also seemed to appeal to him.

lineage, where had your character descended from? Gondor? Lothlorien?
history, Gandalf was one of the Maia who was sent to middle Earth as an Emissary, he and the others were considered messengers and were to assist the free peoples of middle earth in opposing Sauron. he and the others were known as Istari or Wizards in the tongue of man. They were to stay until their task was done. Before this he was a Pupil of Nienna and dwelt in the gardens of Irmo in Valinor. He arrived after the others at about the same time the Necromancer appeared in Mirkwood.
At Mithlond he was welcomed by Glorfindel, his friend from Valinor, sent earlier on a similar mission, and Círdan the shipwright, who possessed Narya, one of the Three Elven Rings of power. Círdan divined in Olórin a sense of strength and power despite his appearance as a bent and aged old man. Círdan gave Narya to Olórin, with a prediction of his future struggles with evil, and a promise that it would support and aid him in his labors. Then Círdan said "But as for me, my heart is with the Sea, and I will dwell by the grey shores until the last ship sails. I will await you."
Like many of the other wizards he took the guise of an old Man who was robed in grey. He did not take up a permanent residence and instead wandered middle earth and counselled those who would listen. He was known to be mainly in the North east.
Around 1100, the Istari and the Eldar discovered that some evil entity resided at Dol Guldur in Mirkwood. No one was sure what it was and Gandalf feared is was Sauron.
Over the next two hundred years the evil continued to grow, as well as the source directing it. This seemed to be getting much darker, Orcs in the misty moutians and the Qitch king had built a fortress at Angmar. In 2063 Gandalf set out to Dol Gadur to find an entity known only as the necromancer, he knew not of its identity as it fled. Afterwards, the evil there seemed to desist, and the era of the Watchful Peace began.
Necromancer again returned to Dol Guldur in 2460. The white counciall was then formed in response to this. Galadriel, wished Gandalf to be the chief of the Council, he refused this honour as he wanted mainly independence and not to have to settle roots, Sauraman took the position instead.
In 2850, Gandalf again entered Dol Guldur, this time in secrecy. There he found out many things. First and foremost, the Necromancer was no Nazgûl – it was Sauron himself. Also, Gandalf found Thráin, a dwarf of the royal line of Erebor, in the dungeons. The last of the Seven Rings of the Dwarves had been taken from him; Sauron was gathering the remaining Rings of Power and possibly searching for his lost One Ring.
Gandalf escaped Dol Guldur and returned to the White Council. After relating his discoveries, he urged the council to attack Sauron while the One Ring was still lost and Sauron's power immature. But Saruman said that it was better to watch and wait; that the One Ring had long ago rolled from Anduin to the Sea. The majority of the council agreed with Saruman. Elrond Half-elven, a powerful member of the council, later privately told Gandalf he had a foreboding that the Ring would be found, and that the war to end the age was coming. Indeed, he added, he feared that it would end in darkness and despair. Gandalf encouraged him, saying there were many "strange chances," and that, "help oft shall come from the hands of the weak". Gandalf did not yet realize that Saruman now wanted the ring for himself and was secretly searching for it along the banks of river Anduin.
In 2941, Gandalf happened across the dwarf lord Thorin while staying the night in Bree. Thorin initiated conversation; he had been having a strange feeling urging him to seek Gandalf. They talked along the road for a while and in the end Gandalf agreed to help with the Dragon Smaug
Ultimately, Gandalf concocted a plan wherein Thorin could destroy Smaug and recover his family fortune, albeit with a "burglar" of Gandalf's own choosing. Gandalf decided upon a Hobbit known as Biblbo, they travled together for manya time upon this journey Gandalf gained the sword known as Glamdring from a troll-hoard; Gandalf bore it for the rest of his life.
Gandalf helped Thorin and Company through the Misty Mountains, saving them several times from orcs and other calamities.
Gandalf left the quest prior to its completion, yet the quest was successful: An Alliance between the Elves of Mirkwood, Men of Rivertown and the Dwarfs helped to defeat the dragon. Gandalf had accomplished his immediate goal, which was to destroy Smaug, the dragon could of been sued by Sauron for his purposes, in the proses it also killed many orcs and Wargs that could of been used to attack Lothorian.
Gandalf had left Thorin and Company before reaching the edge of Mirkwood to attend a White Council meeting in the South. Suarons power was returning and this time Gandalf was able to convince the White councial to atack Dol Guldur to hopefully weaken Suaron. In the end they drove him out of Mirkwood.
Despite the Council's hopes, Sauron was not weakened by this attack. He had foreseen the move that drove him from Mirkwood, and his retreat was but a feint. Ten years after he was driven out of Mirkwood, Sauron declared himself openly in Mordor in 2951 and rebuilt the Barad-dûr. He began training his army's in hope of finding the One Ring.
Gandalf had left Thorin and Company before reaching the edge of Mirkwood to attend a White Council meeting in the South. The Council was meeting under the gravest of circumstances: Sauron's vast power was returning, even without his ring. Gandalf at last convinced the Council to attack Dol Guldur. Even Saruman was willing by this time, for now he feared Sauron as a rival, and wished to delay Sauron's search for the Ring. The Council put forth its strength and drove Sauron from Mirkwood.
Sauron then began reassembling his forces for the final blow against the hated remnants of Númenor and the Eldar still in Middle-earth. Sauron ordered armies of Easterlings from Khand and beyond the Sea of Rhûn to reinforce his stronghold in Mordor; they were further reinforced by armies of men from South Harad. Orcs, trolls, and other foul beasts were multiplying in Mordor; Sauron's minions also were searching the Anduin for any sign of his precious One Ring. Despite the terror they induced, in 3018 Sauron sent the Nazgûl north to search for his ring as well.
In the years after this Gandalf spent most of his Time in the Shire interested in the Ring of bilbo's, during this time he got to know Bilbo's Nephew Frodo Baggins. He also met Aragon the last King of Gondor, he was one of the Rangers of the North and it was unknown to many of who he actually was. Recently Bilbo Baggins had turned 111 and Gandalf plans to attended.

rp sample, (this one from a site that I have been on )Gandalf had come to Bilbo's 111th Birthday Party with his fireworks and had met Frodo Baggins on the way and the fun had literally begun from there from his
"Wizards are never late, nor are they early," all the way up to Bilbo disappearing under that ring of his. But let us start somewhere else during this.
Gandalf Had come with his fireworks to impress all the Hobbits and make it feel more of a party and plus he wanted to be there for his friend Bilbo and his age was rather interesting he never seemed to get a day older at all. Which further raised his suspicions of that ring of his that Bilbo had acquired on that trip they went on.
He had one big surprise of a firework that he would set off some time later for Bilbo Baggins it was a big surprise and themed on the adventure they had had, he was going to love it. However this had all gone wrong in its self because two young Hobbits where just about to set them off, MERIADOC BRANDYBUCK and PEREGRIN TOOK why was Gandalf not surprised that it was those two hobbit's at all.
Gandalf would of gone to stop them but there was something else that was more interesting at the moment, Bilbo that tricky little hobbit had vanished. He knew instantly what had happened and what was going on the ring he had was indeed the one ring. He knew where the hobbit would be and made his way up towards bag end and waited for the Hobbit to finish what he was doing..
credit to phips, don't steal!
